Congratulations! You have reached the website of Jeff Boerger, a Mid-Michigan artist, sometime actor, sometime musician and full-time photo enthusiast with a long time passion for street photography.

While the primary content of this (new and under construction) site will concern the topic of street photography, the art of capturing candid, unrehearsed moments of people in public spaces behaving and navigating our complex and often unpredictable world (more on this later), I unashamedly take this opportunity to promote my new book, THE PERCEPTION OF DOORS -An Eclectic and Whimsical View of Doors, Gates and Passages.
The book offers a collection of door photographs collected in travels throughout seventeen U.S. states and one Canadian Province. There are numerous photo books on the subject of doors. Most of them address a specific architecture such as the Victorian “Painted Ladies,” the colored doors of Ireland or the Gothic cathedrals of Europe. My book pays homage to no particular architectural style, age or culture; instead it offers a collection of portals ranging from utilitarian to eloquent to outright comical. But more than a tribute to the door as object, I invite the viewer to consider the transition from one space to another, to imagine what lies beyond and the choice we make to pass. As you turn each page you’ll discover a pairing of photographs chosen to connect in ways of theme, graphics, color palette-even humor and social statement.
Enjoy the passage!
THE PERCEPTION OF DOORS is currently available for $29.95 in bookstores in Mid-Michigan, or by contacting me directly at: jsbrrgrr@gmail.com.
